Final Fantaxy VI Don't Miss List
Updated Sat 2026-03-28 | 1139 words
Part 1: The World of Balance (The First Half)
- Narshe & South Figaro (Delayed Rewards): Don't open chests in the Narshe Mines, the Cave to South Figaro, or the hidden crates/barrels in South Figaro town. They "level up" into endgame gear if you wait until the second half of the game (world of ruin). Exception: While navigating the mines during this "Moogle Defense" mini-game, look for a small, dead-end path leading off to the right side of the screen to get the Ribbon (not in Pixel Remaster).
- Mt. Kolts (The Main Gauche): Look for a hidden path through the wall on the right side of the first cave area. It’s a dagger that boosts evasion.
- Returner’s Hideout (The Genji Glove): Refuse Banon three times to get this relic.
- Returner’s Hideout (Hidden White Cape): Find the secret passage in the treasure room for this early-game defensive boost.
- Imperial Camp (Dobermans & Satellite): During Sabin’s scenario, kick the chest in the first tent and fight the doberman and fight the "Monster-in-a-box" in the second tent. This is the only way to get these onto Gau's Rage list.
- The Veldt (Stray Cat Rage): At the end of Sabin's scenario, you get Gau. Immediately look for a Stray Cat on the Veldt and "Leap" on it. Its Catscratch move (4x damage) is a game-changer for the first half of the game.
- Zozo (The Chainsaw): Set the clock to 6:10:50 to unlock Edgar’s best early-game tool.
- Shadow Dreams - stay at Inns with Shadow multiple times
- Magitek Research Facility (Ifrit & Shiva): Pick up the Magicites off the floor after the fight. If you leave the room, they are gone.
- Magitek Research Facility (The Kazekiri): Use Locke to Steal from the boss Number 128
- Jidoor Auction House (Golem & Zone Seek): Now that you've finished the Magitek Facility, return to the Auction House. These two essential Magicites should now be available for purchase.
- Narshe Mid-Game (Saving Mog): Once you have the airship, go to Narshe and chase Lone Wolf to the cliff. Stand still and wait for the stand-off to resolve, then choose to Save Mog.
- The Serpent Trench (Water Rondo): CRITICAL: After recruiting Mog, fly to Crescent Mountain and jump into the Serpent Trench. This is your only chance to teach Mog his Water Rondo dance before the world changes.
- Cave to the Sealed Gate (Ultima Weapon): Look for the hidden floor switch to find this iconic sword.
- The Floating Continent (Shadow): CRITICAL: At the end, choose "Wait," then "Wait for Shadow" until the timer hits 0:05.
Part 2: The World of Ruin (The Second Half)
- Solitary Island (Saving Cid): Catch the fast-moving fish to keep Cid alive.
- Duncan’s Cabin (Bum Rush): As soon as you find Sabin (near Tzen), head to the cabin north of Narshe to learn his ultimate Blitz.
- Triangle Island (Gogo): Once you have the airship, fly to the top-right island and let the "Zone Eater" swallow you to find Gogo.
- Flying in Airship - fight Deathgaze to get Bahamut (there's also 8 dragons somewhere)
- Narshe Mines (Mog & Umaro): Return to Narshe to pick up Mog again. Then, take him to the back of the mines to defeat the yeti, Umaro, who will then join you.
- Ancient Castle (Odin/Raiden): Ride Figaro Castle through the desert until it stops.
- Note: Keep Odin if you want the +1 Speed bonus when leveling; upgrade to Raiden if you prefer the +2 Strength bonus.
- Phoenix Cave (Locke): This is a two-party dungeon. Completing it is the only way to recruit Locke.
- Doma Castle - Sleep here with Cyan in party for Alexander Magicite, gear, backstory
- Move Figaro Castle underground - Get Odin Magicite (+1 Speed) or transform to Raiden (+2 Strength)
- Narshe (Cursed Shield & Ragnarok): Requires Locke. Now that he's back, go to the Narshe Weapon Shop. You’ll get the Cursed Shield (which becomes the Paladin Shield after 256 battles) and the choice of the Ragnarok Magicite or Sword.
- Bring Relm to key areas (Owzer's Mansion, etc.)
- Coliseum
- Bet Ragnarok (sword) or other high tier item and win the fight to win Economizer (all spells cost 1 MP)
- Kefka’s Tower
- (Fixed Dice): Found in a chest in the final dungeon. Essential for Setzer.
- (Force Field): Have Strago alive in your party when fighting The Fiend to learn his final Lore.
- Offering / Master's Scroll - relic chest

Mog's Dances
| Dance | Terrain Required | Why it’s Great |
| Water Rondo | Serpent Trench / Lete River | MISSABLE. Deals heavy Water/Ice damage. Since these terrains vanish in the World of Ruin, get this ASAP in the World of Balance. |
| Earth Blues | Mountains (Mt. Kolts) | Features "Sonic Boom" (HP-cutting) and "Sun Bath" (massive party heal). Extremely reliable. |
| Wind Song | Plains (Grassy areas) | Features "Sun Bath" for healing and "Razor Gale" for multi-target wind damage. |
| Desert Hare | Desert (near Figaro) | Features "Antlion" (instant death) and "Sand Storm." Great for crowd control. |
| Snowman Jazz | Narshe (Snow) | Features "Blizzard" and "Surge." High-damage Ice magic. Only obtainable in Narshe. |
Gau's Rages
To learn these, you must first encounter the monster in the world, then go to The Veldt, use the "Leap" command, and wait for Gau to return in a later battle.
Since Gau cannot use weapons, his stats come entirely from his Armor and Relics.
- Snow Muffler: This is Gau’s best armor (won by betting a Behemoth Suit at the Coliseum). It gives him such high defense that most physical attacks will do 0 damage to him.
- Merit Award: This relic (also found at the Coliseum) allows Gau to equip weapons and armor he normally couldn't, like the Paladin Shield, making him a literal tank.
| Rage | Location | Key Move | Notes |
| Nightshade | Owzer's Mansion, Jidoor (WoR) | Charm | Forces enemy self-targeting; works on most bosses |
| Aspiran | Serpent Trench (WoB) | Gigavolt | Strongest magic attack in first half |
| Anguiform | Serpent Trench (WoB) | Aqua Breath | Multi-target Water/Wind; great mid-game |
| Stray Cat | South Figaro / Imperial Camp (WoB) | Catscratch | 4x physical damage; relevant all game |
| Magic Dragon | Phoenix Cave (WoR) | Giga Flare | Non-elemental, ignores magic defense, hits all |
| Behemoth King (Undead) | Veldt Cave (WoR) | Holy | Strongest single-target Holy spell |
